Click to expand.Well you'd have to be a fool to think this. Buys just need to read the specs and look at the pics or maybe read a few reviews to know the new iMac doesn't have DVD. Hell if you're in store just look at the damn thing! I still use DVD on my PC daily and I'll be keeping my G5 tower so I'll try linking to them and sharing their DVDs if needed before buying one. If you check the Apple DVD is no more expensive than good ones from Samsung and other in most stores, maybe 10% difference.
Personally I'm going to look for a BluRay USB option, when the need arises. Click to expand.Like the others have said its old technology, but there are still a lot of people who need a cd/DVD drive, me been one of them. Personally I'm glad Apple removed the cd drive. It was a part that often failed and if it did was hard to replace. Now with the only option been to use an external cd drive, if this fails its a lot easier to replace this as you simply disconnect the broken one and connect a new one up in its place. When I order my iMac in a month or two, I'll be purchasing the Apple SuperDrive because I'm limited for space and the Apple SuperDrive is slot loaded so I won't have to allow for extra space for when the draw comes out, I'll be able to simply place it on the foot of the iMac's stand where it will be easy to reach.
Also it looks great and will match the aluminium of the iMac.
